Bradley Chubb: Minor Setbacks & Major Comebacks | LAW OF ATHLETE PODCAST with Deonte Holden & More

A really familiar face joins the hosts on Episode 4 with guest Bradley Chubb, former collegiate teammate to host Deonte. Along with the familiar face, Ced McFadden joins the show as a co-host. Bradley or “Chubb” to most is no stranger to adversity. He sits down and gets real with Law #5: Never Let a Setback Keep You from Coming Back

This man really must be something special for his agency to gift him the username astronaut on Instagram by paying another user for it. And that he is. With an impressive football background with his father and brother both playing football at major levels, little Chubb was going to make a name for himself. Going into his junior year of high school, he suffered an ACL injury and he thought at 16 his football career was over. This was not the case. After a premature offer his junior year, he decided on NC State his senior year, actually committing the same day as Deonte.

After a position change and refocusing his freshman year, Chubb found his place on the team and set himself to become a First-Round Draft Pick. He touches on the honor it is to get to the combine alone but makes it clear that it’s worth it because they want to see the type of player you are and could be. As a projected first rounder, he was able to experience Draft Day in person, unlike players currently. Drafted as the 5th pick, Chubb was off to Denver to start his rookie year.

Pressured by outside critics, Chubb had to realize that he was only in his rookie year, so he knew that the first few games of his season shouldn't define his career. Having injuries in the past, Chubb was dedicated to proving his worth to the team his second year. 7 years and 7 days apart from his first ACL tear, during a game he tore his ACL again. What’s crazy is his scars made a 7 but reminded him that this was just another setback that he intended to come back from.

After reminiscing on collegiate days, from him breaking a school sack record by half of a sack and bowl games, the two Deonte and Chubb definitely show the bond is real. Switching gears from football, Deonte speaks on Chubb’s character and how regardless of his skills on the field it will take him so many places. As a hobby, Chubb has an interest in photography and real estate, but his main passion outside of football currently is the Chubb Foundation. Within his foundation he is working with kids from where he grew up in different ways through football and creativity.

For the future, Chubb looks to make sure that his family and future family are good and of course to be a Hall of Famer. The hosts chime in to make sure that even on his journey to the HOF that he keeps his tradition of taking towels, not from the locker room, but the opposing players. Yes, there’s a video of it. From ACL tears to critics in his ear, Chubb shows the true meaning of Law #5: Never Let a Setback Keep You from Coming Back.
