Chloe Jackson: Basketball, Faith, and Fashion | LAW OF ATHLETE PODCAST

What would YOU call fashion? In Episode 2, the most stylish Chloe Jackson sits down with Deonte and Tykera to speak on her basketball journey and new career in fashion. Tackling Law #9: Find Your Purpose Outside of Your Sport, they talk to an example who has done just that.

Not even warmed up, the football player (you figure it out) begins with his usual nonsense by talking to two former basketball players and saying he has a legit crossover that’s better than Chloe’s. Wasn’t she in the WNBA? Thankfully Tykera steps in to bring the football player (you figure it out) back to reality. Now, they’re on topic. Chloe is on set, looking like the drip god she is and the three reminisce on meeting each other in high school and Tykera points out Chloe has been in the fashion game since forever. This isn’t new to her.

As a collegiate student athlete, she transferred to 3 different schools, ending at Baylor which is where she really shined. Her decisions to transfer came from an early career injury and evaluating each program to see where she could fit in. Her collegiate years came to an end, and she immediately went into the WNBA as a player for the Chicago Sky. Disclaimer the host coughing did not have the coronavirus, he just choked on his drink. Maybe leave the basketball junk talking to the ballers.

After being released from the team due to an injury, Chloe had to make a decision. She spent a year in Poland and made the decision to devote her time into fashion. Decision well made. Please look her up, Chloe has the dressing skills and flicks to stand by them. Her decisions are her own, but her parents are her support system, and they supported her every step in her journey that led her to becoming a personal stylist. Deonte chimes in to note that she has the right people in her corner to speak on her faith and help her realize her dreams outside of the game. He further speaks on being ready to always transition out of the sport and into life. It’s about having a backup plan –not because you don’t believe in yourself, but as Chloe says, “the ball does eventually stop dribbling.”

Get good socks? Yeah, fashion is even down to the socks, like the Gucci ones Tykera came in wearing during one of the first podcast meetings. Chloe breaks down fashion versus style. As a stylist she wants to bring out someone’s personality and make them more confident in what they're wearing. The celebrity personal stylist takes you through a day in the life. Let’s just say, busy. Dwayne Wade, Quinn Cook, Maria Taylor, are just a few heavy hitters that Chloe has had the pleasure of styling.

When you’re living in your purpose, things just fall into place. Tykera cosigns, while Deonte praises the statement and why wouldn’t they? She is really speaking, because she is walking in her purpose and trusting every step of the process. Chloe’s ending advice is to stay true to your journey and believe in your talent. Seems like the key to Law #9: Find Your Purpose Outside of Your Sport.
