5th Pick of the NFL Draft Bradley Chubb Overcomes Many Adversities
Episode 4 of the Law of Athlete Podcast features a special guest, Bradley Chubb, a former collegiate teammate to host Deonte Holden. Along with Chubb, Ced McFadden and Tykera Carter also joins the show as a co-host. Bradley, or "Chubb," as he is known to most, has overcome many obstacles in his life. His football background is impressive, with his father and brother both playing football at major levels. When Chubb suffered an ACL injury at the age of 16, he thought his football career was over, but he was determined to make a name for himself.
Chubb committed to NC State his senior year after a premature offer during his junior year. After refocusing and finding his place on the team, he set his sights on becoming a First-Round Draft Pick. His dedication paid off when he was drafted as the 5th pick and went to Denver to start his rookie year.
Despite being pressured by outside critics, Chubb knew that the first few games of his season shouldn't define his career. During his second year, he tore his ACL again, but he remained determined to come back from this setback. His scars from both ACL injuries remind him that setbacks are just another challenge to overcome.
Deonte and Chubb reminisce about their collegiate days, from breaking school records to playing in bowl games. They also talk about Chubb's character and his passion for photography, real estate, and the Chubb Foundation. The foundation provides opportunities for kids in Chubb's hometown through football and creativity.
Chubb looks to the future and hopes to be a Hall of Famer while ensuring his family's well-being. The hosts joke that Chubb should continue his tradition of taking towels, not from the locker room, but from opposing players, even on his journey to the Hall of Fame. From ACL tears to critics in his ear, Chubb embodies Law #5: Never Let A Setback Keep You From Coming Back.
