Brandon Marshall Talks About the importance of Mental Health

In the latest episode of the Law of Athlete Podcast, the three hosts sit down with former NFL player and founder of the I am Athlete Podcast and House of Athlete, Brandon Marshall. The conversation starts off with Tykera delving into the often intense dynamic between Brandon and one of his co-hosts, which Brandon describes as "locker room talk." Brandon admits that while it was uncomfortable at the start of his career, he quickly learned to control his reactions and shift his mindset to ensure situations don't escalate.

When Deonte asks when mental health first became a priority for Brandon, he shares a turning point in his life when he was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder in 2011. Brandon emphasizes mental fitness as being critical to one's overall well-being and takes the hosts through the pillars of health that are the foundation of his brand, House of Athlete: Train, Fuel, Mental Fitness, Recover, and Tribe.

Ced starts the discussion about seeking help, and Brandon recognizes the importance of having open discussions and seeking help. Tykera admits that it can be difficult when there doesn't seem to be the right words to say, but Brandon encourages everyone to listen instead of feeling the need to always fix the problem.

The hosts share their own experiences with mental health battles and the importance of checking in with others. Deonte talks about how things that have gone unaddressed have bottled up and can come to the surface before you even realize it.

Overall, the hosts and Brandon share an open and honest discussion regarding a topic that isn't discussed enough but needs to be prioritized. They empower each other and their listeners to be intentional about prioritizing mental health through self-reflection and communication. This podcast episode sheds light on the importance of mental fitness as a critical factor in one's overall well-being.
