Social Media internship – For College Credit Only

Schedule – Part Time 5-10 hours a week

Position Overview

Are you a student interested in building real-world digital marketing experience with a growing company? We are a multimedia and lifestyle brand looking for a creative and passionate social media intern to collaborate and help develop, create, and maintain content for our social media platforms. 

The internship provides students with an invaluable learning experience, allowing them to dive into the world of digital media marketing and leverage ideas in real-time, learning how to apply creativity, critical thinking, and journalistic standards to the most important sports stories of the day.

Responsibilities: 

  • Research effective social media strategies within the sports industry 

  • Work with executives to develop social content using creative messaging, engaging images and videos, GIFs, memes, giveaways, promotions, trending topics, and more

  • Develop organized content calendars on a recurring schedule

  • Plan, execute, and manage posts and stories on multiple social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Pinterest, and LinkedIn

  • Monitor social media analytics to identify the best days and times to post and to understand the impact of particular posts/campaigns

  • Understand the differences between each platform and optimize content accordingly

  • Stay up-to-date on current social media trends and changing platform capabilities

  • Assist with the development and distribution of press releases and media alerts

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a sophomore or above in an undergraduate or graduate degree program (marketing, communications, or journalism major preferred) with eligibility to earn academic course credit according to their institution policies. (Proof of course credit eligibility must be submitted prior to consideration) 

  • Basic understanding of and interest in major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and LinkedIn

  • Basic Skills in Adobe Creative Cloud software or Canva and mobile editing software preferred

  • Reliable computer/laptop and quiet workspace

  • Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills

  • Ability to learn quickly and take on new challenges 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use the utmost discretion when privy to sensitive information

  • Excellent command of the English language (including grammar and spelling) 

  • Ability to translate topics into engaging content for a variety of audiences

  • Familiarity using data to inform social media strategy and/or content creation
