NFL Star Terrell Lewis Talks Football, Money Management, and More

During their tour of Los Angeles, Ced and Deonte are joined on set by Russell Ude and Terrell Lewis for a conversation about football and more. Ced and Deonte comment on the good vibes they have experienced in the city, with Ced even expressing his desire to live there. Russell, who was born in New Jersey and raised in Atlanta, chose to stay in the area after college. Terrell, a native of Washington DC, has known Deonte since childhood. Both guests have extensive backgrounds in athletics, which helped prepare them for their current endeavors.

Terrell shares his journey to Alabama and how it helped him prepare for the league. He talks about the real talent he faced when he came into collegiate football and how he had to prove that football is played up North. He recalls being in a new environment, feeling like he didn't have much to say at first, and how he became more comfortable as he got older. He shares a story about his first training camp where it was 103 degrees outside, and how he had to take extra precautions for recovery.

Ced directs the conversation to Russell, who was a top recruit with over 50 offers to play in college. They ask what made him choose to go to school in California versus other offers. Russell says he looked at the program holistically and through a four-year lens, taking into consideration his injury and the need for a program that would maximize his earning potential. Terrell says he chose Alabama based on the strength of the program, but admits that academics weren't his first focus.

Russell, who is also a designer, is wearing one of his own designs. He emphasizes the importance of bringing ideas to life. Terrell shows off his exclusive gear and Deonte shares the backstory on his hat, which he purchased from some ex-waterboys turned entrepreneurs in Atlanta.

Ced then asks both guests about mistakes they've seen with athletes and their money. Terrell admits to wild spending in college, but says he learned to make different decisions with his league money. He emphasizes the importance of money management and having the right people around you. Russell talks about branding and how it can help players, while Terrell mentions being cautious about social media and making sure it fits with who he is.

As the conversation comes to a close, the hosts sign off on another episode of the Law of Athlete Podcast, realizing that the conversation could continue for much longer.
