Beyond Ballin’ with Lala: A Sports Journalist's Take on Dating and the Demands of Being an Athlete

Lawrencia “Lala” Moten is a well-known sports journalist who has made a name for herself by speaking her mind and holding steadfast to her beliefs. Growing up, Lala had a passion for basketball that started at the tender age of 3 and continued through her college years. Her father, Lawrence Moten, who was also a basketball player, instilled in her the importance of creating her own legacy and setting high standards for herself.

During a recent conversation with friends on the Law of Athlete Podcast, Lala found herself embroiled in a heated discussion about zodiac signs and how they impact people's personalities. While some of her friends were skeptical about the legitimacy of the signs, Lala and Tykera spoke passionately about the loyalty of Scorpios. Ced, on the other hand, scoffed at the idea and challenged them to guess his sign. After several failed attempts, he revealed that he was a Virgo, a fact that Deonte claimed he knew based on Ced's behavior.

The conversation then turned to dating, and specifically, dating as an athlete. Tykera was interested in hearing about the challenges of dating while still actively playing sports in college. Ced was adamant that dating another athlete wasn't necessary, while Lala believed that dating someone who understood the demands of being an athlete was crucial.

Lala shared that she preferred dating athletes because they inherently had the same drive, determination, and mindset as she did. She explained that non-athletes often struggled to understand the demands of her schedule and the demands of her sport. Tykera echoed Lala's sentiments, noting that she would also wonder what a non-athlete was doing with their free time.

Despite their differing opinions, the group agreed that the qualities and mindset of a potential partner were essential when dating. Ced emphasized that while they were all athletes, they should look for other things in common to build a connection.

The conversation then turned to Lala's career, and the group learned that she was still working with Beautiful Ballers and had launched her own podcast, Beyond Balling with Lala. She had also recently accepted a position at a news station, where she would continue her work as a sports journalist. Tykera wished her the best in her new role, and the group took a collective deep breath and relaxed.

Overall, the conversation was lively and thought-provoking, and Lala's passionate views on being an athlete and dating added depth and perspective to the discussion. Her story of growing up as a basketball player and her father's influence on her set the scene for an engaging and relatable conversation that would resonate with readers of all ages.
